Life up Miller Lane

Gregg is doing great at BMT (basic military training). He was allowed to call us on Thanksgiving, and said that he was fine and that he missed everyone and to tell you all hi from him. In his last letter, Gregg said that he was in what's called Group A, which means that he is one of the most physically fit people in his training unit. The down side is that he can't march worth beans, which means that he gets yelled at daily. But all and all, he's in good spirits. We are very blessed to have him making such a great sacrifice for our family.
Dad came to visit us this last week, and weather it was the fact that he was board, or just missed having things to do...he started to do all the projects I've been putting off. He fixed my front door so that we can't see daylight between the cracks anymore, and he showed me how to block off the swamp cooler right, so that it's not so cold back in MaKayla's room. Brenix got into the action too, he thought that screwdrivers make great drumsticks on the washer and dryer.
MaKayla kept me company while the men worked. She can hardly wait until Christmas.

A Day At the Zoo

We took Gregg up to Boise on Tuesday for him to get everything processed for him to go to basic training on Wednesday. He got done earlier then we thought he would, and wanted to spend his last day with us at the zoo. We had a great time.

Brenix loved all the animals, it was the first time he's ever seen them. But MaKayla screamed when ever we got close to any of the cages. All i could get out of her was that the animals were going to get out. No matter how much we tried to convince her she was safe, Mak screamed her head off till we moved away. I guess the Zoo's not for everyone.
Gregg is now in basic training down in Texas. He will be gone from us for the next 174 days (one down and many more to go!). He said he was prepared and ready to take what ever the drill Sargent's dished out. We'll see just how prepared he was after his first letter. MaKayla and Brenix miss him already, and I'm doing all i can to explain that Daddy had to go so we could be happy together later. They're not really buying it, and neither am i to tell the truth. But we'll do our best to get along without him till he gets home safely.
The only time Mak stooped crying was when the tiger was swimming.

Happy Halloween

We had a blast this year. MaKayla insisted on being Sleeping Beauty, so Grandma went on the hunt and found the perfect pink dress for her. Only problem was that she gave Mak the dress a month before Halloween. But after a full 4 weeks of asking, MaKayla's patients paid off. She was the prettiest little primness at our wards trunk or treat.

And then there was Super Brenix! Poor kid wasn't so sure he liked the whole thing. But once he figured out there was candy involved, he got a lot happier. With all the chocolate he got, I'm surprised that he slept last night.

Fun Fun Fun

MaKayla and Brenix are sure injoying themslefs. Every week the get together with their cousins, Sarah and Tom to either distroy my house or Aunt Michele's. MaKayla play's dress-up with Sarah, and Tom runs way from Brenix as fast as he can. As you can see a large bowl of Kix goes along way at making everyone feel right at home.
Brenix is learning that it is sometimes painful to be a big boy. 2 weeks ago, we bought the kids matching twin beds. When we were putting them up, Brenix was very excited as MaKayla showed him how to jump on the beds. But when it was time for bed, he wasn't all too keen on the idea of sleeping on the thing. This last Saturday, after taking a short nap, Brenix came out of his room screaming and the tip of his noise bleeding. The best that i can tell is that he did a full out face plant. Poor kid.
Grandma Sue (sorry for the bad pic mom) and Mak always have tons of fun together. Every Thursday night Grandma comes over that watches Brenix and MaKayla for us. They play and cook and generally have a much better time with Grandma then with their parents. Gregg of course is gearing up to leave us soon. Only 3 weeks to go. But with the support of the people who love us, i think we're ready!

Let the fun Begin

We have the news about when Gregg will be leaving for basic training, November 18. It all feels a little more real now that we know when he's leaving. Currently we are working as a family to get all of the big projects done (like finishing the fence around the house) before Gregg takes off. MaKayla and Brenix have no idea, of course, about whats going to happen, but Gregg and I are currently working on things for the kids so it won't be that big of a shock when he's gone. I think Gregg feels pretty silly reading story's and talking to a video camera, but we're hoping he's discomfort now will prevent tears from MaKayla later.

MaKayla Started school two weeks ago and should not be any happier. Her teacher says that Mak is following school rules really well, is playing well with the other kids, and is doing most of the work that is put before her. A great improvement from last year. MaKayla is always more happy when she is in school, and is always more than happy to show off her drawings and paintings to anyone who comes to see us.

Brenix has now past off all of his goals in physical theripy. A year ago all the doctors were scared that he would never be able to crawl let alone walk. And now Brenix is running circles around MaKayla. If nothing else, Brenix is sure proof in this world and miricals still happen.

Life is good!

It's official, we are now blogging and trying to keep everyone posted on what's happening with us. And rest assured that since I (Kayla) am doing it, there will be tons of mistakes, misspellings, and generally crewed up info on here. So just chalk it up to part of the experience.

Gregg (my husband) and i have 2 kids. Alma MaKayla (age3) and Brenix Carson (18 months). They are amazing kids that generally give me a run for my money. MaKayla is and extreme extrovert that is curious about everything. She will start pre-school next Monday and can hardly wait. Brenix had a hard start in life, but he isn't letting that slow him down. He mastered the art of walking about 2 weeks ago, and is making up lost time for getting into things he knows he shouldn't. Together they are a handful, but we love them all the more for it.

Gregg has enlisted in the Air National Guard, and will be leaving us soon for Basic Training and Tec School. I know what your thinking "ARE YOU NUTS!". No we aren't. Gregg has been struggling to find a decent paying job that will support our family for the past year and a half, and nothing has come up. I am proud of him for doing the Air Guard, it shows that he will do what ever it takes to take care of us, and i couldn't be more grateful. So anyway, Gregg is training hard, and is enjoying life a lot more now that he has a plan for himself.

As for me, I'm a stay at home mom that dabbles in music once and a while when people need me in different groups. Life is good in Twin Falls, even better now that winters coming. I'll keeping trying to post stuff here, hope I'm better at this then email.
